Application:-
In particular, 5-fluoro-pyrimidine-4,6-diol could be used to synthetize certain kynurenine-3-monooxygenase inhibitors and pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of certain diseases and disorders related to the inhibition of KMO activity. These diseases include neurodegenerative disorders such as Huntington's disease, a neurodegenerative genetic disorder affecting muscle coordination, leading to mental decline and behavioral symptoms.

5-fluoro-pyrimidine-4,6-diol is a starting material for synthetizing Fluoxastrobin. Fluoxastrobin (CAS No. 361377-29-9, molecular formula C21H16ClFN4O5) is a fungicide providing protective as well as curative activities at the early state of fungal infection and also at mycelial growth. Fluoxastrobin has great leaf systemicity, thus it can be fast absorbed to and distributed evenly in the wax layer of the leaf. It is effective against Ascomycete, Basidiomycete, Deuteromycete and Oomycete fungi, seed and soil-borne pathogens (i.e. snow mould and bunt), Septoria leaf spot disease (including Septoria glulme blotch), and rust diseases (in winter wheat). It also shows a better control of foliar wheat diseases over all other strobilurins.
