WHAT IS BRICKPLUS ULTRA SET ACCELERATOR ADMIXTURE?

BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator is a ready-to-use, powdered admixture which has to dissolve in plain water. It accelerates initial setting time one to three times faster than normal fly ash bricks or blocks.
BRICKPLUS ULTRA improves workability and strength while hastening the hydration of cement. It makes the mix easier to place and speeds the production of fly ash bricks or blocks by shortening the initial set and curing time. Time and labor are saved because forms and other protection can be removed earlier and finishing can be started.

BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator can greatly accelerate the setting of FLY ASH BRICKS, CLC BLOCKS AND HYDRAULICALLY PRESSED PAVING BLOCKS, which is especially important at lower temperatures, as it increases concrete hydration and helps prevent damage due to freezing in cold weather. BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator is the most popular accelerant admixture.

Low temperatures slow concrete hydration, which is why an accelerator (often in the form of a chemical admixture) is needed to obtain high initial strength. BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator accelerates hydration and gives the strength and durability to meet specification requirements at lower temperatures.
Uses and Application
BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator provides many advantages when added to fly ash bricks clc blocks and hydraulically pressed paving blocks. It speeds set time, strengthens the products in less time, and makes it easier to use at low temperatures. It also aids curing, workability and density and creates a wear-resistant surface.

Set Time
when BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator is added to Portland cement at normal conditions (i.e., 70A F), it lowers initial set time from 3 hours to 1 hour, and final set from 6 hours to 2 hours. Set time increases as temperatures fall.


Strength
BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator also more than doubles one-day fly ash based products at 70 A F. Concrete strength is 51% higher at three days and 32% higher at seven days. It also can improve ultimate strength.


Curing- when addition of BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator is combined with draping wet burlap on the manufactured products overnight to provide adequate moisture, BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator aids curing by:
a cHalving moisture loss early in hydration by lowering evaporation.
a cReleasing the heat of hydration sooner.
a cAccelerating hydration, which reduces the time needed for curing and protection.

Workability and Density
BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator increases flow and workability without a change in the water/cement ratio. Alternatively, it allows for greater density by reducing water content up to about 0.5 gal./bag of cement.

Resistance to Wear and Surface Curing
BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator improves fly ash based products durability. Resistance in specimens cured with BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator were 25% to 66% more resistant than those from three other methods and were 50% more than specimens that were not cured. The BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator specimens had a surface wear comparable to those with standard wet curing.

Application
BRICKPLUS ULTRA set accelerator is normally added to the mixing water or aggregates. It also can be added to mixed concrete just before discharge (allow at least 20 revolutions of the pan mixer drum).
