Heart of any electronic marvel today contains high performance, reliable, sophisticated; extremely compact devices, commonly termed as 'chips'. This is very large scale integration of circuits capable of performing wide range of functions. However being very compact, they are very delicate too, and need highly pure power to activate them.


Irrespective of the voltage levels, the electrical power available is highly impure and gets further adulterated with switching 'ON' & 'OFF', electromagnetic disturbances, in and around the area, and in supply line anywhere. This impurity is in form of harmonics, surges, spikes etc., which are packs of extremely high voltages, to the order of several thousands volt lasting for few milli or microseconds, is common cause of mortality of chips and like devices. These problems are prominent in case of power-supply is frequently done by generators. Therefore it is important that the power fed to the system is meeting the standards set for purity of power.
