It is a coniferus tree which grows up to 10m in height and it takes 3 years to mature. Its scientific name is juniperus communis .juniper is a female cone and because of its fleshy & merged scales which cover the seeds it appears like berry. Berries are green when young and change to purple black in color in 1 year 6 months. The purple berries are used in cuisine & gin.

It is a Pale colored oil and its viscosity is watery.

Its main components are Alpha Pinene, Camphene, Beta Pinene, Sabinene, Myrcene, lpha Terpinene, Gamma Terpinene, Cineole etc.
