Rhumayog-Gold is a safe and effective oral gold formulation for rapidly pregressing Rheumatoid Arthritis. Before discussing the product it is required to know the management of Rheumatoid Arthritis in general; NSAIDs (non steroidal anti-anflammatory drugs) and DMARDs (disease modifying anti-rheumatoid drugs) play crucial role. This combination with Immunosuppressives are used for the treatment. Ingredients of Rhumayog Gold, its activity in the management of Rheumatoid Arthritis: NSAIDs activity in Rhumayog-Gold is due to Rasna (Rasnadi Quath) and Guugul (in Yograj Guggulu). Guggul contains natural steroid which shows anti-inflammatory action. DMARDs activity is due to 1mg of Suvarna Bhasma, a micropulverized colloidal form of gold which is non-toxic; gold has: · anti-inflammatory activity. · is a powerful glandular rejuvinator. · is known to be effective for easing the pains and swelling of Arthritis, Rheumatism. · has DMARD activity. · prevents progressive joint damage and disability. Immunomudulatory activity by Ashwagandha and Guduchi in Yograj Guggulu. Aqueous extract of Guduchi plant stimulate the phagocytic and bactericidal activity of neutrophils and macrophages. A high molecular weight polysaccharide was isolated whcih was accounted for most of the immunostimulant activity. Ashwagandha affects both T and B lymphocytes which accounts for immunostimulant activity. Safety of the Colloidal Gold used in Rhumayog-Gold: (Study of Rhumayog-Gold in Rheumatoid Arthritis compared to Auronofin; Chandrasekaran A.N.; Madras Medical College & Govt. General Hospital) A unique feature in this study was the estimation of serum gold levels. Patients who were on Auronofin (synthetic gold oral preparation) showed a significant level ranging from 10.63 to 2077.50 nanograms, while patients on Rhumayog-Gold had lower levels ranging from 1.50 to 457.5 nanograms in the blood serum. Rhumayog-Gold and auronofin dose contained 3mg of gold per day during the trial. So, inspite of the same gold dose in both the drugs Rhumayog-Gold showed lower level of gold in the blood serum than Aurofinin.
