Basic System Description

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems generate power using sunlight (not heat) and work even during winters. Such systems do not require any maintenance and are highly beneficial where powering through grid is difficult. Solar photovoltaic system is the total arrangement of modules in series and parallel connections. The individual crystalline solar cells are connected together in a module (in series), which are hermitically sealed to survive in rugged weather conditions and ensures optimum performance during its long life. Solar energy is directly converted in to DC electrical energy using solar photovoltaic panels (SPV's). This DC energy is fed in to a power conditioning unit (PCU) that charges battery. Energy not utilized during the day is stored in batteries. These batteries can provide the power in the absence of sun. During no sun days, the grid will charge the batteries .The PCU ensures that the batteries are never over charged or discharged. In grid connected systems, whenever there is no sun, the grid will charge the battery bank and it will feed power to the loads through PCU. Whenever the solar is available the grid will operate in parallel, the battery charging and the loads will be taken care by the solar.
