It uses physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove all types of solid contaminants and chemicals to produce treated water that is safe for environment and reuse. Reuse is often for agriculture purposes but sludge can also be used as a fuel source. In sewage treatment plant, sewage is first passed through a grit chamber that removes large solid particles from it. STP Plant also has a mixing tank that is used for sedimentation where suspended solids settle down.
