The Tamarind Seed Husk or the brown outer shell of seed obtained after decortications of roasted seeds is also very useful product. After decortications of Roasted seed, about 35% of Tamarind Seed Husk is obtained, which is a bye product. At present it is used as fuel & as cattle feed.

Tamarind Seed husk contains approx. 20-22% fibre and 23% Tannins, which can yield good tanning properties in leather industry. When suitably blended is used for tanning leather and imparting colour-fast shades to wool. Tamarind seed husk tannin gives a harsh and highly coloured leather which is used for heavy soles, suitcases, etc.
