Q. Can RO work without pump?
Answer
More water will be wasted and pollutant rejection will be poor if the RO is installed and operated without a pump in situations where there is insufficient water pressure. Due to RO's inefficiency, a storage tank is necessary. Filtered water flows at a far slower pace than water that comes straight from the pipes, even when the system is being fed by water at sufficient pressure. Most private wells use pressurized storage tanks and pump with on/off pressure settings of 20/40 psi or 30/50 psi. Because of this, a supplementary pump is likely to be required.
