Q. Can vitamin D be administered via injection?

Answer

The vitamin D deficient patients are supplemented with vitamin D3 injections. Vitamin D3 has to be replenished daily at a rate of 4,000 international units. Vitamin D insufficiency is often treated with oral vitamin D and calcium supplements. Vitamin D can also be given as an intramuscular injection in addition to oral treatment. It is not recommended that anybody attempt to self-administer a Vitamin D3 Injection, but rather that it be done only under the direction of a skilled healthcare practitioner or a doctor. The doctor will determine the appropriate dosage based on the severity of the disease.
