Q. Is the LAN card and nic card the same?
Answer
NIC stands for network interface controller. A network interface controller (NIC), also referred to as an interface card (NIC), local area network (LAN) network adapter (NA), adapter (NIC), or physical network interface (PNI), is a piece of hardware used to link computers together in a network. It's inserted into computers to make them networked. It's a physical component that establishes a virtual link between computers and networks from within the host machine. In the past, NICs were often implemented on add-on cards that were inserted into a computer's expansion slot. Because of the low cost and widespread adoption of the Ethernet standard, a network interface is now standard on the motherboard of virtually all modern computers or is housed in a USB dongle.
