Q. What is a clamshell bucket?

Answer

The clamshell is a bucket with two hinged jaws attached to a crane suspended from the boom which raises or lowers the bucket, and pulls the jaws together to transport material. Clamshell buckets are used mainly for either deep or narrow excavations or to transport material from a particular place on to trucks. Clamshell buckets are usually seen attached to JCBs or tillers.
