After then, these sensors are strategically positioned in the middle of the current. The wire's resistance decreases as it cools off in the air current. This decrease in wire resistance represents an indication of the current speed through the wire. Hot wire mass airflow sensors are used in hotwire air flow meters to determine the volume of air passing through the meter in a certain time period.
