During the pressing process, soft boards are manufactured using wood fibre and are created by the application of pressure, heating, and compression. They can either be hard and unyielding or soft and flexible. Insulation is the most common application for soft board panels. Insulating against the cold and preventing overheating during the warmer months, soft boards are an excellent choice. In addition to this, they perform the function of acoustic barriers, which prevent the transmission of sounds. In a variety of building shell applications—including roofs, walls, and floors—soft boards that are simple to install are employed.
