Q. What is the difference between a drill and a power drill?
Answer
A drill is an umbrella term, of which ‘power drill’ is a spoke. In simple terms, a power drill is a form of a drill. Drills can be categorized into various segments, such as manually operated, Electric power operated, Corded vs Cordless etc. The purpose of any drill remains the same, however, its mode of operation might be different. In a power drill, electrical power is used to drive a high impact motor, which in turn rotates the selected drill bit at a high speed. The type of surface dictates the drill bit to be used. Power drills can be corded, that is, connected to the power supply through cables or cordless, that is, uses high energy density-based lithium batteries to operate the drill.
