Q. What is the difference between silk and crepe silk?

Answer

In contrast to the puckered surface of most crêpes, silk crepe de Chine fabric has a smooth, matte finish with very minor pebbling throughout. This look may be achieved in a plain weave pattern by using tightly twisted yarns for the weft threads.  The silk used to make georgette has a coarser texture than chiffon yet the same sheer quality. Twisted strands of the same yarn used to make crepe silk are used to make this fabric. The high twist yarns used to weave crepe silk give the cloth a luxurious sheen and a velvety smoothness.
