Any food product sold in India must, in accordance with FSSAI regulations, have either a "best before" or "use by" date. Milk has a shelf life of two days in Indian circumstances, provided that it is refrigerated the whole time. Therefore, the date that is printed will be the current date plus two days. Both ink stamping and embossing are two ways that are used to print the "use by" date on milk pouches. This practice is being followed by all milk companies, including AMUL.
