Q. What's the difference between male and female USB Connector?
Answer
A male connection, or plug, has a solid pin serving as the central conductor and is typically made of metal. The female connector (or jack) features a hole in its central conductor for the male pin to fit through. There is a clear distinction between Male and Female plugs. In contrast, women typically feature a pin-accessory receiving "hole" The DC Jack may seem to be an exception to this rule because the receptacle has a pin and the line connector has a hole, but this is only because of a difference in terminology; the connector is technically a line socket and not a plug.
