Q. Which is the best quality raincoat?
Answer
Although both nylon and polyester are water-resistant, polyester excels in this regard. Polyester's inherent resistance to moisture also improves with higher thread count. Neither material, however, is completely watertight without additional coatings. In the textile industry, polyamide is used to create nylon. Polyesters and polyamides are both examples of polymers, or long chains of smaller molecules. Synthetic textile fiber makers build both of these using chemical procedures employing petroleum-derived chemicals. Polyester also has significantly better resistance to ultraviolet radiation than nylon does, preventing it from fading fast in the sun. In spite of this, neither one is any less resistant to mildew.
