Today’s prevailing corporate social responsibility strategies took shape in the final decades of the 21th century.
It will take years to recover from the economic pain and fully assess the psychological impact of lockdowns, pandemic-related loss of life and social and political unrest. But it's fair to say that during a time of upheaval, consumers are looking to companies they trust to provide a sense of normalcy and stability. The way those companies treated customers, employees and the community over the last year will have a lasting impact on how they are viewed and what initiatives they have in building a better world.

The dredging industry in India continues to grow owing to the increasing maritime sector requirements. At present, over 120 million cubic metres (cum) of annual dredging is being carried out at major ports and dockyards in the country. The Dredging Guidelines 2021 envisage the dredging activity to ramp up to 3 billion cum over the next 10 years. The demand would largely come from capacity augmentation plans at existing as well as upcoming greenfield ports. In the next few years, most of the key ports are expected to deepen and widen their navigational channels to attract deep draft vessels. Recently, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has announced plans to take up a dredging project worth Rs 3 billion to increase Cochin port’s draft depth to 18 metres to help the port dock larger ships.

The development of greenfield ports by major port trusts and maritime states will also contribute to the demand. Besides, the increasing requirement for land reclamation, and the government’s plans to develop inland waterways as an alternative mode of transport will offer considerable dredging opportunities.

DREDGING IN INDIA 2022 will be held from 06 - 07 September, 2022 at ITC Maratha A Luxury Collection Hotel, Mumbai, India.

Looking forward to seeing you in our DREDGING IN INDIA 2022 (trade exhibition)

The tunnelling segment has seen increased activity in the past two to three years both in terms of project award as well as work on the ground. Longer and larger tunnels are being developed. In the past two years, more than 110 km of tunnel length has been constructed across railways, metro, hydropower, roads and water sectors. Another 1,390 km is in various stages of construction. l New technologies and techniques are also being adopted to ensure better execution of the tunnelling projects. TBM and NATM technologies are being used for construction of metro, rail, road and highway projects. Another method of tunnelling that has been witnessing increasing acceptance is micro-tunnelling or the trenchless construction method. Meanwhile, drill & blast method continues to be the dominant mode of tunnelling, especially in the Himalayan region and the Western Ghats. l Greater emphasis is being given to safety in design and operation of tunnels. Tunnels are being deployed with smart and intelligent features such as integrated tunnel control systems, video surveillance, wireless communication systems, entrance detection control and electrical fire signalling systems. l Contracting practices have also evolved from item-rate contracts to engineering, procurement and construction and design-build-operate contracts.Contractors are paying greater attention to project design, implementation and timely completion. New and advanced features have been added to tunnelling equipment, thereby increasing efficiency. Internet of things is also being implemented by players on big machines. The quality of construction materials used has also improved with advanced materials such as geotextiles, waterproofing membranes, fibre and rock reinforcements witnessing greater deployment. l Going forward, the overall outlook for tunnel development in the country remains promising. According to India Infrastructure Research, the tunnelling segment offers a strong pipeline of 895 tunnels, spanning a length of over 2,700 km. Over the next two to three years, the tunnelling sector will offer multifold opportunities across sectors. This holds immense promise for engineering, procurement and construction contractors, consultants, technology and equipment providers, construction material supplies, etc. over the long term. l The mission of this conference is to highlight the recent trends and developments, discuss the key challenges and discuss the emerging tunnelling technologies across various sectors. The conference will also showcasethe noteworthy projects and best practices.
